I hardly ever write reviews, but this time is a “must”. Came to Vina Studija Splendid with best friend to celebrate my birthday, and was highly shockingly utterly disappointed with everything from service to food. We’re both local and know the place rather well, chose it not based on random internet reviews but on personal experience, which unfortunately turned out to be different yesterday as opposed to what it was some 6 months ago. The service was absolutely below par. First, the fact three different waiters were changed during service and subsequently blamed one another for the dissatisfaction we politely pointed out. Secondly, we were required mid-service to pay the bill - WHAT?! Just to give you an idea: we’re two adult ladies wearing designer clothes and handbags, not your typical questionable red flag customer who’d potentially walk out without paying. Next, the prosecco we initially ordered allegedly wasn’t available due to not having been delivered - this was version #1 by one of the three different waiters, the other waiter though said it was available but not chilled - just an advice, if you’re lying, corroborate your stories and get your facts straight. Hence, the waiter (who was later blamed for the mistake by their colleagues and called “not even a waiter, but a helper” - no comments) offered a different one “forgetting” to mention it was 40% more expensive - a surprise I only discovered once the bill arrived. It’s also interesting I found a similar story amongst reviews - sounds like a pattern rather than a one-time honest mistake. Secondly, the portions have gotten ridiculously small. Everything to-share is hardly enough for one person, let alone to be shared. A mishap on my part, as I don’t read deep into menu I know well, but I didn’t expect salmon tartar serving to shrink from 6 pieces to 4. But okay, this one’s on me. The serving of olives is once again ridiculous - I’ve had complimentary olive servings being 2-3x bigger in size. And of course the feta crumbles (adding 40% compared to the plain olives price), that come with it, are sparse to the point of looking insulting. King oyster mushroomS are A mushroom. One. Single. Sliced. Mushroom. To share. Maybe consider re-writing the menu to King Oyster Mushroom. I could go on through the whole appetizer menu with the same comments, but I’m sure my point is clear. Long story short, having paid 130€ for 2pax, we both walked out disappointed & hungry, choosing to continue the dinner in a different place instead. I understand the country’s economy is facing a downfall, but you don’t expect this kind of budgeting from a high-end wine studio. No wonder the other one got closed recently as it’s hardly possible to keep your clientele with a service like that & food that’s more like a sample version for toddlers. Overall, the service was repulsive, absolutely not recommend. The food has always been and still remains good, but severely overpriced for the now-reduced amount of portions compared to what they used to be. Price per person: €50+ Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here when I popped in as a tourist while visiting Riga. The staff were so welcoming from arrival all the way through my four glasses of wine. When I hesitated not sure what to order, they had great suggestions with wine pairings and happily talked me through multiple choices. Their recommendations were spot on, and if I were staying longer I would absolutely come back! I didn’t feel out of place as a solo traveler and there was a perfect balance of the server checking in on me without being overly bearing. The tapas were great and so was the wine. Definitely recommend. Price per person: €35–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
