The Library Cafe's six-course meal offering is a classic case of overpromising and underdelivering. Their marketing campaign paints a picture of a sophisticated culinary experience, setting expectations high for an elegant night out. However, the reality starkly contrasts this image. Upon arrival, my party of three found ourselves as the sole occupants of the restaurant, an ominous sign for a place touted as a fine dining destination. The decor fails to impress, with a lackluster ambiance that does little to enhance the dining experience. It's clear that aesthetics and atmosphere were overlooked, both critical elements for any memorable meal. Service, despite the absence of other patrons, was inexplicably slow. On the bright side, the waitress was friendly and attentive, doing her best to compensate for the kitchen's shortcomings. The food itself, while pleasant, falls short of justifying the steep R650 per person price. Adding to the disappointment was the limited availability of the advertised liquor, further diminishing the value of the experience. For those seeking a memorable dining experience in Johannesburg, this establishment unfortunately does not make the cut. Food: 2 Service: 2 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: R 900–1,000
