A nice little take away Surinamese restaurant in Amsterdam with one of the best roti ever tasted. Actually, met the owner at Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, who was also staying there with his family for the holidays and he invited me to visit their restaurant as they have the best roti according to him. Roti is one of my favourite Surinamese dish which is from the Hindustani cuisine and thought immediately that I have to try it and judge for myself. Once I've got to visit the restaurant and ordered the roti, I must confess that they indeed have delicious roti, very recommendable. I didn't meet the owner there though, but his brother and brother's son whom I told that when looking for their place that it wasn't that easy to find and I was looking for a Surinamese flag. I saw so many Surinamese flags in the same street and followed these, assuming that one of them is their restaurant, but that wasn't the case. So if someone is looking for Surinamese food, whether of Surinamese descent or not, they would go to one of the restaurants that has the Surinamese flag and not theirs, as this is a marketing and recognition tool. Perhaps they don't necessarily want to be associated with Surinamese cuisine. The flag is certainly helpful to attract more new customers. The guy said, maybe they will indeed put up the flag.
