We had landed just 2 hours prior to visiting this cosy little place on the side streets. Having been up since 2 a.m. I was looking forward to a typical Sicilian jaunt. I am vegetarian, partner is pescatarian. My visit to Palermo, is solely for food and local sights, in that order. My goodness, was I surprised pleasantly by the food and the attentive service by Nicolo and his colleague (with glasses, I forgot to take his name) I ordered the Farro & Faggioli soup, hubby ordered spaghetti with sardines, wild fennel, raisin (don’t knock it till you try it) with crispy breadcrumbs on top! They were kind enough to change the portion from starter to his main course. The portions are substantial, you don’t leave hungry with Sicilian hospitality. The soup was filling enough for me to skip my supper! Their pear and ricotta dessert only stopped me from ordering it because of my diabetes! But it would definitely have been worth the couple of extra Metphormin ! If the rest of the trip offers me this calibre of cuisine and service, I am in for a treat! It’s open till 20:00 so I would stop for lunch if in the area. The outside seating are is quaint and quirky! Thank you for such a memorable and hearty meal. Grazie Nicolo.
