"My soul can find no staircase to Heaven unless it be through Earth's loveliness..." - Michelangelo Perfecto birthday dinner in the heart of Florence, Italy. Low-key is what I wanted and the Gods agreed, Lo Scudo Ristorante Firenze was the key to true happiness. My first choice was of course the Florentine Steak at one of the many highly rated steakhouses across the City of Renaissance, but my Vegan cousin was joining so CardiB plan it is! Lo Scudo Ristorante Firenze was a last minute choice after doing some quick review searches, and they filled all the menu needs. They were highly rated on Yelp, amongst other online sites, plus highly recommended by the Florentine staff at my hotel, just a stroll away. The only concern really, was I didn't have a reservation (which is highly recommended in popular restaurants across Florence). I took a chance by showing up when they first opened for dinner! Yes, they kindly took us in! Serendipity worked for me this time, but again if in Florence and wanting to go to highly rated restaurants, do what most sensible people do and make reservations lol! I mean not everyone has Kate Beckinsale eyes, like I do, right? Ha! We are seated at the window which was absolute wonderful! I pretty much knew what I wanted and my cousin knew what she wanted as well. So we both start with APEROL SPRITZ as we quickly perused the menu. I confirm that a Florentine Steak would just be too much for me (if I was sharing I'd go with it!), however my heart already knew I wanted the... TAGLIATA CON RUCOLA, GRANA E POMODORINI: Sliced strip loin beef, Arugula, grana panpano, fresh cherry tomatoes, and Tuscany extra Virgin olive oil. GRILLED BREAD & ROASTED POTATOES was part of my table and it was amazing! That bread with EVOO! GRECA SALAD, PAPA AL POMODORO SOUP, TAGLIATELLE AI FUNGI PORCINI PASTA for Cousin! Moving on to the second round of APEROL SPRITZ as our dinner was steadily brought to our table. The Florentine staff so warm and friendly. Great sense of humor and yet so professional. And suddenly my meal from the Tuscan hills lay in front of me! OMG! It was soooooo delicious! Sounds cliché but everything paired so well. To me, it was the perfect birthday dinner as I savored every bite. Al dente! Moving on to the third round of APEROL SPRITZ! Yes, I'm obsessed with this Italian cocktail! :D We of course end the meal with Dolci and the MOST DIVINE COPPA AL TIRAMISÙ! Thank you, JESUS! :D In the end, I highly recommend Lo Scudo Ristorante Firenze located in the heart of Florence, Italy! A special shout-out to Yelper, Danielle T., who answered my questions in real-time, as I was headed to the restaurant. In her words, "Easily the BEST meal in Florence!"
