I am invited to a restaurant this evening for a birthday. I don't inquire and I drive the 35 minutes to reach the place. I didn't get to my friends stopping me to advise me to park where I am. The parking lot is crowded, so there is no need to go any further. The entrance is in line, the number of cars in the parking lot and people in the line announces the human mass that we will be confronted with. My concern starts there. The building doesn't seem designed for that many people. The room is crowded, proof of success? I do not believe. After receiving the aperitif drink (alcohol forced even for abstainers) we start the festivities. Here we are finally at the buffet. Certainly, diversity is indeed there with seafood, grilled meats, fried foods, pizzas and prepared meals, but quantity should never take precedence over quality. The food I was brave enough to eat today was bland. The seafood was mushy, the fried foods were soggy, the prepared foods were unseasoned. I can't judge the meat as inaccessible given the number of people crowded in front of the 150cm² grill. Add to all this the fact that in 2024 the only vegetarian alternative in this buffet is raw vegetables and white rice and we have probably the least interesting buffet that I have been able to walk through. In short, canteen food in a school where no care is taken to develop children's taste buds and where consumers with personal convictions are put aside. To choose, I would much rather go to Lunch Garden twice as a couple than spend the price of a meal for 2 here. The atmosphere is there, that’s for sure. People are dancing, the DJ does a good job in my opinion, but I'm not an expert on the subject. He goes through mashups without really taking any risks but that's okay. The show is done intermittently with (professional?) dancers. The music is loud and, unluckily, I have a speaker hanging above my head. Which brings me to the layout of the room. This space is clearly saturated with the aim of making profits at the expense of people's safety. We are crammed in with, at each table, one extra person in line. A poorly ventilated room without air, natural or artificial, makes eating unpleasant. People sweat, ventilate, emit their odors and in a few minutes we are subjected to a rather unpleasant animal smell. We were placed in the confined space farthest from the buffet, with no opening, pressed against a wall adorned with dusty decorations. No breeze possible, complicated breathing. During the evening I had to take a break outside to get some fresh air. On the way back, I jumped at the chance to get some ice cream to cool down a bit. As I returned to my pony-smelling stable, I felt the heat coming from the radiator. What amazes me here is that the person I spoke to about it didn't seem to care much about it. Lighting a boiler with 200 people in the room and 22° outside is criminal. All this for €50 per person. We will never be profitable in an all-you-can-eat buffet formula. No matter how much food we eat, we will never be able to recoup the cost of the meal. There are better ways to spend €50 to have a great birthday night. My conclusion is this. Making a profit is good, I have nothing against it. Making a profit under such conditions is shameful. Overcrowding a room and making those who consume have an unpleasant time is counterproductive. I think they don't care, but I won't come back here. Lunch has better to offer for half the price! Vegetarian options: No options with real vegetarian dishes.
