Mir wurde von einem Kollegen dieses zypriotisches Restaurant empfohlen. Und, nachdem ich die -vorallem negativen- Bewertungen im Vorfeld geleden hatte, war ich gespannt, was mich gestern erwartete. Was muss ich sagen? Es war mega!!! Tolles Essen, aufmerksamer Service und angenehme Atmosphäre. Der Preis ist es wert!! Sehr gerne wieder!!! I honestly think Karatello Tavern is a tourist trap. Karatello Tavern is located behind Lemesos Castle, in a very touristy area surrounded by restaurants. In a well-known travel guide I saw this restaurant recommended to try traditional Cypriot food and decided to take a chance. Judging by other comments, it should have been very good a long time ago, but it has been losing quality. We ordered several starters. The spicy cheese dip was bad, and I'm not talking about the taste, but when you put it in your mouth it bubbled, we think it was fermented, possibly from the heat. We have tried this type of dip in different places in Cyprus and it has never been like this. The cheese sticks with tomato jam were made with a cheap cheese with hardly any flavor. In other restaurants at least they make them with halloumi cheese. The sausages marinated in red wine was the only starter we liked. They were very good. As for the main course, we shared the kleftiko, roasted lamb with spices accompanied by bulgur wheat, potatoes and grilled vegetables. The lamb was not bad, but much inferior to other places in Cyprus where we have eaten it. The cracked wheat (bulgur) was very stale and the vegetables were overheated. We paid about €64 for the above, two ciders and a bottle of water. The quality-price ratio is not good at all. I don't recommend it at all. There are much better places in Lemesos serving authentic traditional Cypriot food. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €30–35 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
