An Evening at Restaurant Joïa: To Tell About but Not to Relive An evening at the restaurant that will remain engraved in the annals. If you have an enemy and you are looking for the perfect poisoned gift, do not hesitate for a single second, offer him a table at Joïa in Visé. As soon as we entered, we already had a glimpse of the spectacle that awaited us. Moments before being greeted by a waiter, we were being stared at as if we were aliens. Once our presence was finally recognized, we gave our name, because we had reserved, but the welcome did not gain any warmth. Rather than escorting us to our table, we were hastily shown the location dedicated to us. A vague hand gesture, a table number said half-heartedly, and we were supposed to guess where to sit. No plaque, no indication, just a number floating in the air. The atmosphere was that of a cattle ranch, where the number of slots seems to be the only concern. Privacy was a foreign concept in this place. If you've ever wanted to know the details of the lives of your table neighbors, this is the ideal place. Their conversations, their secrets, there was nothing we couldn't learn from our forced companions. After a long wait, the waiter finally came to take our order, and we asked for an appetizer. After about 30 minutes, we received our appetizer which we enjoyed with our aperitif. About 45 minutes later we received our entry. By this time our appetizers were long finished, but the server did not clear the table of our empty glasses or ask if we wanted to order more drinks. We had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes after we were seated for a waitress to finally ask us if we wanted something to drink. I pointed out that it was high time to worry, but she made no excuses. His only response was, “You just had to ask us.” If she doesn't serve me my dish, should I go and cook it myself? In summary, the service was totally amateurish. I even thought for a moment that I was the target of a hidden camera, but unfortunately, I will not have the privilege of appearing in a gag show. After remaining practically silent for 2 hours, to preserve our privacy, our dish finally arrives. Before arriving at our table, it had been mistakenly served to the next table for the second time that evening. It was a well-cooked duck breast, as hard as concrete on the ends, overcooked in the center but edible. All this for the modest sum of €126. In short, it's too expensive for a level lower than a canteen or a station buffet! More seriously. It's best to avoid! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
