1. Tuna Cesar salad - was literally drenched in dressing, with way too many croutons and that was a first one for me - the tuna was cut in small pieces and was deep fried - dry and overdone. The whole thing was a bit of a mess and that's how it tasted as well.
2. Beef carpaccio - could be successful, but there was that overpowering taste of added truffle oil.
3. Ravioli with Ricotta - the only dish we liked along with the capreze salad, but the serving could honestly be just a tad larger.
4. Vegetarian pizza - looked like an instant pizza with chunks of vegetables on top. And tasted like instant microwave pizza with vegetable chunks (big ones) on top.
5. Capreze salad - this was ok. The chef didn't manage to massacre it
Honestly the fact alone that in this place you only see Americans should speak for itself. Well, I am American myself but a New Yorker and I travel a lot and am quite a foodie. There is absolutely nothing Italian about this restaurant besides the staff and the ravioli on the menu. I mean - couldn't even get pizza right...
Our experience wasn't bad... just the food was terrible for being in Italy. Especially for the price you pay for it. And Italian cuisine is in my opinion one of the best in the world - not talking about pizza and pasta, which most people associate it with - there is so much to it. So dear Marriott hotel managers - get on with it and step your game up!
