So ein nettes Café! Herzliche Mitarbeiter, sehr guter Kaffee und die hausgemachten Kuchen waren ebenfalls sehr lecker! Wir waren begeistert! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €1–10

I never leave negative reviews. However, this was my experience, this morning. I am an American. I can speak Italian, however. Despite that fact, of course my accent instantly gives me up as an American notwithstanding my ability to speak Italian. And we are staying in Rome, just around the corner from Gran Caffe Salandra. I walked into Gran Caffe Salandra to an almost completely empty establishment aside from one woman sipping a cappuccino at the bar. The woman behind the counter asked me what I wanted, in Italian. I understood and I politely greeted her back in Italian, simply ordered a cappuccino (also in perfect Italian). And then she proceeded to completely ignore me for the next five minutes, doing absolutely nothing, as I stood there patiently waiting. There was nothing for her to do. One single customer sitting at the bar that needed nothing. Finally, after about five minutes, she walks outside. The woman sitting at the counter kind of gave me a knowing look acknowledging the ridiculous situation. I just shook my head, having figured out what was going on and that she simply despised Americans, I simply walked out, without saying a word. She said something to me as I left, but I didn't catch what it was. In any event, I didn't acknowledge it and went on my way. I leave this as a review for Americans to avoid this place so you do not have to feel like a sub-human to a person or an establishment, like this. Which, I suppose, is doing them a favor since they clearly don't want "turisti" business. So I guess everyone "wins." Avoid at all costs. There is a beautiful caffe with no prejudice, literally down the street you can go to instead. Elsa Coffee. And it's fantastic. Go there. Service: 1
