Super leckeres Essen, tolles Ambiente und sehr netter Service. Das Sushi war wirklich lecker. Auch die Vor- und Nachspeisen waren super. Auch die Mocktails waren hervorragend. Wenn wir noch einmal nach Riga kommen, kommen wir hier wieder vorbei. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €35–40

We came to this restaurant completely by chance. We had about two hours to kill before going to the theatre and decided to eat sushi. All the well-known sushi places in Riga were fully booked, so we ended up at Derbruder. Although the restaurant presents itself more as an Asian cuisine place and the name is quite German, it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The sushi was simply excellent. We ordered the Freedom roll and the Froroll – both were outstanding, with the Freedom roll being especially impressive. We also had the tuna steak, which was very tasty, although afterwards I thought it might have been better to try another sushi roll instead. The service was excellent. Our waiter was charming, knowledgeable, and even took a moment to explain the differences between types of sake, which was a very nice and educational touch. The waiting time was around 50 minutes (the sushi and tuna were prepared from scratch). It felt a bit long at first, but the quality and taste fully justified the wait – good food is worth waiting for. We didn’t try dessert because we had to leave for the theatre, and the waiter honestly told us that it might not be ready in time. These were the best sushi I’ve had in Riga, comparable in quality to very good places in London. I will definitely come back to try more sushi. Highly recommended.
