14/7/24 ggl Sunday evening football drinks big screen Travnik Chaplin Bar We three guys from London wanted to watch the Euros Final England vs Spain. We had asked earlier at the tourist office where the best places were to watch it with beer and this was one venue along with its neighbour on the river. We ate a Palastinian snack on the corner by the bridge and watched the first half in the bar between. At half time I popped into this bar to find it was a more mature crowd (although still some youngsters) watching a bigger projection TV. The seating was comfy sofas and there were a few people smoking hookah things. The prices were the same at 2.5-3km for 330cl bottles, (unfortunately the draft had run out - like the first place, maybe it's a ruse to sell more bottles at a bigger markup). I got chatting to the locals again and there was a mix of supporters for both teams. They follow the English leagues more than the other European leagues it seems. We managed a couple more rounds here, not breaking the bank at all. A young man was single-handedly serving everyone and at one point asked me to take my feet off the comfy sofas even though I had taken my shoes off quite obviously. Unfortunately England lost 2:1 but the atmosphere was good. The bar emptied out after the full time whistle (we could see downriver the first bar we went to had also closed up). Altogether fun and friendly and fun at good prices, again shame about no big beers on draft though. We Brits like it pints with our football (given 500ml is less than a pint anyway!).
