When we first tried to visit they were closed for lunch because they had plumbing issues but we were determined to have our rice fix after weeks into our European tour. We went back for dinner the next day and I'm glad we did. I've been to Thailand and we live in Tokyo where we are spoiled for choice when it comes to authentic Thai restaurants. We agreed that the food here is great on its own and not just good for a Thai/Asian restaurant in Europe. We know tipping is not customary in Europe (and even in Japan) but everything was so good - food, service, interiors - that we tipped. We also ordered the phad krapao neua which was minced beef with basil but forgot to take a photo - it was one of the best dishes we ordered. We also ordered a mango sticky rice for take away and while the mango was a little sour, it was still very good. All in all, it's a restaurant we would frequent if we lived in Rome. Authentic Thai, great atmosphere, great food , quick service. Place is very nicely decorated, softly lit and very quiet. Good for all occasions, with a SO or friends. Awesome location too, can go for a walk after dinner too. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €30–40

Thai food done well has subtle flavors, a variety of textures, great presentation, and all built on careful recipes using fresh ingredients. Bussarakham has all of this in a Rome location just steps from the Metro A Manzoni stop (and St John Lateran). We were a group of 5 with a reservation booked through an app and they were ready to seat us. We started with the appetizer platter with satay, banana wrapped chicken, fried dumplings/gyoza, and fried spring rolls along with 3 dipping sauces. Tom Kha Kai soup with mushrooms and coconut milk could be split into 4 small bowls, but the 3 soup lovers at the table decided it was too good to share. Our server suggested the papaya salad as another starter and this was a first time trying it for most of our table. They were all pleased at the crispy fresh texture, the vinegary dressing and the amount of heat in the dish. (We did medium-mild but we also asked for chili pepper oil for the more ambitious diners.) Phad See Ew Nuah with beef was also a big winner with thick noodles and a rich dark sauce. I almost wanted a basket of bread to soak up the sauce when we finished it. Phad Thai with chicken was also savory with just a hint of peanut sweetness--not overpowering. They had a list of wines and we tried the Reisling Pitzon which was a mild white wine--not too sweet or minerally. On a Friday evening early (730PM) it was not fully booked--perhaps the neighborhood is not well traveled? Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: A few of the dishes are with tofu, but egg is often used.
