Bistrot Rizziero – A Taste of Abruzzo with a French Touch Bistrot Rizziero is a historic spot in Rivisondoli, housed in a building that feels like a charming mountain farmhouse overlooking Piazzale Michelangelo. It’s not in the old town, but once you know where it is, you’ll be glad you made the short detour. One huge advantage: parking is easy and plentiful in the square, a real bonus in a tourist village. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, decorated with the elegance of a mountain chalet. The family running the place has a unique story – the mother is French – and they skillfully combine Abruzzese tradition with French finesse. The result is a cuisine that is authentic yet refined, where local ingredients meet French techniques. The menu reflects this fusion beautifully: purple potato gnocchi with mugnoli and black truffle celebrate local flavors, while the gratinated onion soup and blanquette de veau bring Parisian aromas to the mountains. Don’t miss the eggplant parmigiana on potato rösti, the smoked veal roast beef, or the indulgent croque-monsieur, a perfect example of their culinary mix. The wine list is well-curated, featuring both local and French labels, ideal for an international clientele. The staff speaks excellent English, making it a great choice for foreign visitors as well. In August, the bistrot offers unique experiences such as vegetable picking, cooking classes, and shared dinners, adding an extra layer to your stay.
