Ein MICHELIN Stern: Ausgezeichnete Küche. Das lohnt sich!
Guter Standard.

We had dinner with 8 people on a Saturday evening and it was very tasty, good value for money! The dishes came quickly one after the other and there was nothing to criticize about the food. The service was friendly, but unfortunately communication did not go well, no attempt was made to provide explanations partly in Dutch, despite the fact that it is only a few minutes across the border. We tried to talk back in French but it didn't always go smoothly, but at least we tried. In addition, we normally went to eat on the first day of the reopening of their new business on 19/10, but this was canceled by telephone 1 hour before the start because there were technical problems in the kitchen. This was very unfortunate, but it can always happen, unfortunately there was no further communication about how to proceed with the paid deposit or a new reservation. We made a new reservation ourselves and had to pay a deposit again. We also sent an email about this but never received an answer. On the evening itself, when the bill was brought, they briefly apologized (so they did know about it), but we expected more understanding and possibly something from the house... I hope they learn from their mistakes and improve their communication in the future. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

As soon as we arrived, the atmosphere set the tone: a constant hubbub, making any fluid conversation difficult. If the setting was intended to be warm, it would have benefited from better management of the acoustics to offer a more immersive experience. The five-course hunting menu (plus appetizers), accompanied by food and wine pairings, promised a taste adventure. The quality of the dishes was uneven. Some dishes were almost excellent, like the venison, unfortunately slightly overcooked. Too bad, because its perfect cooking would have made it possible to enhance this centerpiece. Conversely, other dishes remained correct without causing any notable emotion. The mushroom-coffee sauce accompanying the pheasant was a nice surprise: a bold combination, executed with precision. Unfortunately, this originality was not the rule on the rest of the menu, where the flavors often seemed to overlap without harmony. The ingredients, although of high quality, failed to communicate with each other, leaving an impression of confusion. A cacophony of taste where pleasure is scattered. The wine and food pairings, an essential criterion for this type of menu, were generally disappointing. If the wine accompanying the venison was well thought out, the rest of the choices seemed to lack finesse, simply following general rules without any real thought on flavors. On the service side, the presentations lacked depth. No passion in the description of the dishes. The wines were described to us like a bottle label: grape variety, appellation, location. I would have appreciated a more lively speech, an evocation of their personality or their aromatic subtleties. This would have given an extra dimension to the experience. Finally, a detail that stands out . The roll, served clumsily cut into quarters to share, lacked refinement. It is not so much the quality of the bread that is in question – correct, but nothing memorable – as the manner. Such a presentation is more expected in a bistro than in a gastronomic establishment. In conclusion, and even if I had a pleasant time, Aux Petits Oignons was not able to fully convince me. While we welcome certain dishes and daring combinations, the lack of coherence and overall mastery prevents them from truly making an impression. A great promise, but one that still needs to be refined. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €100+ Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
