Hotel Rembrandt feels like the kind of place that collects stories in the wallpaper. You walk in and immediately get the sense that a thousand travelers have passed through before you, each carrying a suitcase full of secrets. The lounge areas have that old-world charm that modern hotels spend a fortune trying—and usually failing—to recreate. The bar looks ready for a conspiracy, a card game, or the beginning of an adventure. Sure, it's a little worn around the edges. So are most interesting things. And that's the point. The place has character. Real character. Not the manufactured kind. The staff were fantastic. Friendly, funny, and genuinely helpful in a way that can't be taught in a training manual. The front desk team especially made an impression: welcoming, sharp, and always ready with advice or a laugh. I know The Mummy took place in Cairo, not Tangier, but Hotel Rembrandt somehow scratches the same itch. It feels like a location from the opening chapters of an adventure novel, where the hero arrives looking for one thing and ends up finding something entirely different. A little faded. A little eccentric. A lot of charm. Tips: pay a bit more and get an ocean facing room, more space. Bathtub to soak after a hard day's walk. And high enough if you are a light sleeper. It's worth it.
