Top Adresse! Die Spaghetti Vongole suchen ihres gleichen. Die Antipasti schmecken auch toll! Der Hauswein ist zu empfehlen. Herzlicher Service und das ganze zu akzeptablen Preisen abseits der Ameisenroute.

I had high expectations for Antica Locanda Montin, and honestly it didn't quite live up to it.  After a busy morning fighting tourists at St. Mark's Square, I knew exactly what we were going to need for lunch, so I planed this ahead of time.   We hopped on a boat and headed over to the much quieter and peaceful alleyways near the Accademia Gallery and found what we were looking for.  The beautiful courtyard of Antica Locanda Montin and an aperol spritz to cool down.  The first 20 minutes were perfect.  A couple of nice appetizers of refreshing Tuna Tartare and Caprese Buffalo Mozzarella.  Then all of sudden you would have thought a tour bus pulled up.  It must have been a cruise ship tour.  As maybe 100 people showed up and I suddenly realized that half of the patio was set up in banquet tables.   At that point service for us got pretty dicey, and the patio got loud.  A second round of drinks was never offered.  We were lucky to get our order in before the mass of people came in, but as soon as they were sat down, their salads starting coming out.  It felt like our main courses were forgotten about and it took 35 minutes between our appetizers and our main courses.  I know service in Italy is more relaxed, but we had ordered about an hour before we saw our mains.  Anyway it was kind of a shame because the serenity of their beautiful courtyard was lost as the place became a tourist attraction. Tuna Tartare - this was simple and the best dish I had here.  4.5 stars Caprese Buffalo Mozzarella - not near as good as what I had in Roscioli in Rome, not all cheese is created equal you know.  But still enjoyable.  4 stars Baked tagliatelle with zucchini, fish, in a cream sauce - this was pretty tasty.  The fish was perhaps a branzino?  A flakey white fish for sure.  The zucchini blossom cream sauce paired nicely with the fish.  That said the tagliatelle pasta got a little overcooked since it baked for so long.  Maybe it was fresh pasta, which doesn't work as well when baked.  4 stars Lasagna alla bolognese - not good.  I don't know why my wife ordered it.    This was completely mushy pasta.  I've solved this with my own lasagna using dry pasta sheets and baking them uncooked.  I don't want to tell an Italian how to make their own dish, but....  Also the bolognese was pretty flavorless.  1.5 stars Tortelloni stuffed with truffled mushrooms and robiola cheese.  These were nice and rich and fresh pasta of course.  The sauce was a simple butter and poppy seeds, which is all you need.  4.5 stars While our courtyard had been invaded by loud tourists, I did manage to get away for a few peaceful moments while waiting for our food and take in some of the art in the dining room.  I had learned about this place (as I do many that I visit) from the late Anthony Bourdain RIP.  The story goes that the owner used to sometimes accept art as credit from local artists who needed to pay their bar and food tab.  Fun.  And it's definitely worth taking a look at their collection, so don't just walk right past it all on your way out to the courtyard.
