Amazing authentic Roman pasta
I stumbled on this pasta place a year ago and was impressed with the quality of the pasta at a really affordable price. So I went out in search to rediscover it again and see if it had changed. As the name implies 'Solo Pasta' just serves pasta dishes. The pasta is as 'homemade' as it gets for a commercial restaurant and comes in different styles such as spaghetti, rigatoni, fettuccine. They also have pasta made from gluten free flour and wholemeal flour as options (at an extra cost). The various pasta sauces are precooked and on display in the glass counter. The restaurant is very small so during peak times you may have to wait to get a table. If you don't want to wait they also offer take away. You place your order at the front counter which is directly in front of the small kitchen. The cashier then gives you an electronic tag that vibrates and beeps when your order is ready to pickup. You collect your paper table mat, paper napkin, 500ml mineral water (which is included in the price) and find a table to sit down. It takes around 10 minutes for your pasta to be ready.I ordered the pasta al ragu (tomato and mince meat sauce or as known as Bolognese) which cost a total of €5 including water. It came on a pastic plate with a plastic fork. Picture is attached. You can also super size the pasta meal for an additional €2.The pasta definitely had the homemade taste and was correctly cooked al dente. The sauce was plentiful but lacking somewhat in both tomato and mince. There was a disproportionately large quantity of finely chopped carrot which is used as a filler and not much real meat. The pasta was tasty but the ragu disappointing. At the end you take your refuse and place it in the provided trash bins. For €5 the pasta is definitely in the 'cheap as chips' category. The pasta quality is very excellent. It's a shame the sauce was not of similar quality.
Great homemade pasta, thank you!
